Nine Feet Underground

The day has arrived.  Son #1 and I are getting packed ahead of our drive to Liverpool this morning.  Son #1 thinks he has flu or a cold or something, so ahead of going he did a COVID test, which was luckily negative. We're planning a detour to pick up son #1's bag from a friend's house, after which we head for the 'pool. We've made it: Q's still at work, but her mum is here to greet us.  We're both tired, son #1 more than me and are glad to be here.  The journey was enjoyable and a good chance for son #1 and I to have a proper talk. Once Q and her daughter arrive home, we're all gathered to have a homemade chicken and leek pie for dinner. It's been a long and enjoyable day and now it's time to head up the wooden stairs to Bedfordshire. Work tomorrow! Went for a walk just after the carer's first visit.  Back to get myself organised for yoga at 10.  Abbot nurse is supposed to be coming at 10:30 to change my wife's PEG, which will interrupt my yoga, but there you go.   Just after the second set of carers arrive and as I'm setting up for yoga I discover a text from the Abbot nurse sent at 7:30.  Apparently the last feed and medication should be from then. Great planning on his part! I reply and say I hadn't seen the text until now (about 09:45), so he has to change his plans - we have to stop the feed now and flush the tube and he's now coming at midday.  Maybe he should have told me this last week when he made the appointment - then I could have coordinated all this with the carers!  On the plus side (for me) my yoga won't be interrupted. Yoga is done - another good virtual session and next week it returns to being in real life yoga.  Just one problem, I've just realised that I am busy next Monda...

Gaz Coombes' career, post-Supergrass, has been on an upward trajectory over the past three or four years. Starting with debut solo album 'Here Come the Bombs', 2015's 'Matador' and most recently, last year's 'World's Strongest Man', his solo albums have been critically well-received and increasingly successful. The latter pair of albums have been especially good and so the chance to see Gaz solo, in a relatively small venue, was a chance not to be missed. Before Gaz on stage, however, was support, Chris Simmons, a new name to me and one I thought I'd investigate via the medium of Spotify, ahead of the gig.
