Love, Poetry and Revolution - Sunday 28th May 2023

Off to Liverpool this morning, thus breakfast and packing are the order of the day. I am largely packed now, with some of it in the hall ready to load into the car.  One of the carers said, 'you take more stuff than a woman'. Clearly this is a compliment and is partially the result of needing to take my 'Ulysses' stuff, ands also the base station scanner that I'm going to leave in Liverpool (I've especially programmed it for that part of the world). I'm packed, I've said my goodbyes and I'm about to leave. Now I'm in Liverpool, after a rather annoying journey. Why annoying? Well, it went like this.  About thirty minutes into the journey I realised I'd left my wallet behind, prompted by the thought of travelling by the toll road.  Annoyingly, before I'd left something was telling me to take a jacket I wouldn't normally take.  A jacket I'd worn yesterday when I went shopping.  A jacket that had my wallet in the right-hand pocket. Th...

Tales From The Crypt - Tuesday 21st September 2021

Another morning of practicing my presentation, before doing it in anger at 12:35 p.m. - 7 minutes of presenting, 8 minutes of questions! Work takes over the day... My presentation went well, so fingers crossed! Work again until counselling at 4:30 p.m.  A very good session which has helped consolidate what I learned last week: I shall be taking heed of her words and trying some of it out. As soon as I come off the call the carers are here and it's the final visit of the day.  We have a chat and one of them brings up the gig I was supposed to be going to, which caused much mirth and laughter again. After they leave I get back on with work and discover there's an email headed 'Congratulations on Level 2 Certification'!  I've done it!  It shouldn't mean as much to me as it does, but for a whole host of reasons, some not to do with work, it means a lot.   I am so excited I shout with joy, which makes Ronan's gf wonder what on earth is going on. I decide to cele...

Lockdown Diary - Thursday 22nd April 2021

Up just after seven as the first carer's car pulled up the drive.  Let her in and chatted whilst she made up the meds and set up the PEG pump for my wife.  Mid-chat I suddenly realised that I had placed an item that had arrived from a certain online retailer in the recycling without taken the item out. I had removed the address label and shredded it, but never opened the package. A hasty visit to the rubbish and search through the cardboard found the missing item. I still feel like I'm not totally with it though the anaesthetic was almost two weeks ago. All being well today will be the last day my wife is on antibiotics, with one more dose to go.  Whilst the first carer is with her, her cough still sounds quite bad. We can only wait and see. Thought about going back to bed, but my trip outside in the morning air has woken me up, so on with showering and getting ready. I'm going to try and see how driving feels and as I have a card and a letter to post this seems the perfe...

Lockdown Diary - Monday 7th September 2020

If you thought Saturday and Sunday's posts were dull, then today's will probably top them, or should that be bottom them? Normally today I would have started the day with a group meditation practice over Microsoft Teams, then followed that with yoga over Zoom and so on. Today I've done neither of those things. Instead I am attending a training course in a particular software technology that I'll not bore you with. The one thing that I should be doing this evening, which will be a break from all this work, is Book Club: I've spent about 9 hours on Zoom today, so why not spend several more hours on Zoom - yay! Book Club  will be hard-pressed not to come up with something more amusing than the 'joke' (that really is too strong a word) from today's course about ticking the 'Yes' box stating you agree to the license terms when installing software, but you haven't really read them. The presenter even told it twice. Not even a titter. Tumbleweed rol...
