Nine Feet Underground

Began the day with a Q-chat, earlier than usual, before the first carer arrived.   I walked later than usual, even though I got up early. Why's that? K, the first carer of the day was having trouble setting up E's feed pump and as I'm reasonably familiar with the error codes and set-up, I tried to help.  I'd not seen today's error before, but eventually, we worked out what was wrong after changing almost everything.  Time to walk. Despite being late I ended up walking further / for longer than usual, setting myself up nicely for breakfast and work. Once work started, I didn't really stop until this evening, apart from lunch and the odd phone call, or two. Now work is over it's time to start doing the bins, ready for later / tomorrow. All work and no play... Apart from the odd cough which comes and goes, E seems stable at the moment, though as we all know, it's just a matter of time. Ancient & Modern (Hymn book) Today is both my birthday and also father's day.  Not for another eleven years will they be on the same day, though they are always close together since FD is the third Sunday in June. What's in store for me today? Later on, I'll be driving us to my home town for a combined birthday  and father's day lunch with Q and my three sons, but first I'm opening a card and presents from/with Q. After opening some thoughtful and unusual presents including an ancestry.com DNA testing kit, Q then made us a wonderful cooked breakfast starting with fruit and yoghurt and ending with marmalade on toast. YY, PB! Before long it was time to get changed for our trip out for lunch, and yet again I'm spoilt, Q offers to drive to allow me to have some wine and so we head north. Unsurprisingly, we arrive first, though to be fair son #3's train from Durham is running late.  As part of the settling-in process, Q hands the staff the lemon drizzle birth...

A quiet day. Made some progress on the Sci-Fi book club novel, 'The Queue'. (Hmm! Does it qualify as Sci-Fi? Debate!) Contacted our GP about my wife's registration on the 'at-risk' list of people who should be shielding/shielded. Turns out she was omitted in error on the first pass while at the same time some who shouldn't have been on the list were included. Not a very exact science by the look of things. Just as well I followed up on it though. She has now been flagged properly. The Community matron also called to see how my wife is doing and check that the antibiotics prescribed for her are working, which they are. Both the GP and the matron enquired after my well being, especially my mental health and I assured them that things were OK, so far.  The biggest stress is the fear that inadvertently, despite all my efforts to keep the virus at bay, I might be the vector that wreaks havoc, with cataclysmic effect, leaving my/our sons parent-less.  Let'...
