Love, Poetry and Revolution - Monday 3rd July 2023

Late last night I remembered I had a hospital appointment this morning, and had to get transport sorted etc.  After imagining a very chilled day ahead, I realised this would not be the case.  Typical. Back from a reasonably successful check-up, just ahead of the early lunchtime carer call.  I have to make a quick trip to the shops, then return to do the last of the office reorg tidying, then...it will be time to chill. There are big changes in the air... I do not belieeeeeeeeeve it!  It's almost time to start making the dinner and I've only just finished (more or less) the office reorg (excluding the stuff I need to sell).  Ain't gonna be no time for no chill tonight, baby. Usual stuff, blah, blah, blah, blah. Work tomorrow.  Doves / 'Black and White Town'  / 'Some Cities ' [[ ]]

Tales From The Crypt - Monday 18th October 2021

Unexpectedly the return of yoga in person today has been delayed by the teacher remaining in Morocco a week longer.  I should probably follow one of the videos but the day got off to a disrupted start and so plans have gone out the window. Son #2 has this week off on leave and so we may do something together later, dependent on the weather and the time he emerges from his slumbers. In the meantime I've been catching up with a friend and getting various tedious things organised, things too tedious to mention. Son #2 is up and making lunch with me - we now have a plan: I'm going to spend an hour or so playing a computer game with him, a game which he assures me is really simple and only requires use of two buttons on the game controller.  This is his polite way of telling me it's a game which doesn't require much coordination or ability to remember what button does what, in short a game even a monkey could get the hang of.  Let's hope I don't fall short of a monke...

[Saturday 27th October 2018] A day spent in the service of the refreshing the mind and body and, in contrast, also in thrall to consumerism. I relish the contradiction but also recognise the one which is most important. After spending much of the day in the company of people in silent mediation (with a lot of conversation before and after) the evening was spent alone, which was a challenge. The song, 'Rise', is both melancholy and, at the same time, uplifting and most appropriately is from the album 'Lost Souls'. That says more than I can say. [There are two videos here - the original music video which appeals to me for various reasons (but has dropouts and ends abruptly - you have been warned) and a single image with the music so as not to be distracted by the flaws in the recording or by someone else's view of the song ('cos after all, all songs belong to us individually and their meaning is personal to us).] [Blog title is a li...
