Love, Poetry and Revolution - Friday 14th April 2023

Friday seems to have come around quickly this week, which is surprising given I'd just returned from a wonderful break in Cornwall. Nevertheless, it is a working day which will dominate proceedings. The most exciting thing is due to be the delivery of a self-assembly laundry basket to replace the boys current knackered one.   Not quite ecstasy, but obviously not far short of it. Somewhere just short of five-thirty in the afternoon I decided I'd had enough.  There are questions I need answers to and the person I'm asking is off until next week.  Little sis and I nearly arranged to have a call, but our opportunities don't align, so we've agreed upon a Saturday chin-wag. I'm making dinner again, listening to music ahead of us all getting together to watch TV.   We finish another episode of MAFSA (I'm still catching up).  I'm beginning to think Dan is a snake, after originally thinking he was a good guy. I'm sure he's trying make Sandy ditch him, tho...

Tales From The Crypt - Monday 12th December 2022

Today is going to be a day of travelling, with the consequence that I'll not be writing much here, I suspect. Q's already gone to work and I'm packing my stuff and loading it into the car in sub-zero temperatures (it's -4C at the moment). Luckily, after the weekend purchases I'm keeping warm, especially my head. The car is now loaded and I'm about to warm it up, clear the snow and ice and then head off. See ya later! For most of the journey the temperature was below freezing, but got warmer slowly as I headed into the midlands and south. Parts of the journey were very scenic (when it wasn't foggy!) with the snow-covered fields and hills very atmospheric and seasonal. Beautiful. Having unloaded the car, I have a brief break and catch-up with son #2 and then it's time to pick up son #3, his gf and all his stuff from uni.  I think I'd prefer to stay in the warm, but ...

I got bills, they're multiplying...but first shopping, washing and other chores before I start online banking (which is not, for the avoidance of doubt, rhyming slang!) This weekend isn't going to follow the recent pattern, just shifted by 24 hours or so, all being well. I stopped to make lunch for son #2 and I, though he's yet to emerge into the bright sunlight of a day in full flight. Is spring on its way?  Maybe some signs, though early mornings have been pretty cold the past couple of days. Admin and chores done, it's time to read the papers whilst drinking a cup of coffee, the second of the day. Did some more admin after finishing the papers, this time accompanied by songs from five albums released this year that I've finally got around to hearing.  Really like the new ones from Melt Yourself Down, Spoon, Big Thief and Mdou Moctar (come to think of it that's from last year!). I think all four of these will be joining my collection very soon. Not so taken wi...
