Tales From The Crypt - Saturday 1st October 2022

It's the first of October. Octopus. Octagonal. The Eight Legged Groove Machine. The sun is out. Rain be gone.  I started the day in search of a Guardian, after which we headed across the road to Q's new house to continue the gargantuan task of unpacking, moving and organising.  We've set ourselves a goal of making the house workable for Monday when Q starts her new job.  Essentially this means a workable kitchen, a bedroom, a living room/lounge and maybe access to the dining room table for working, eating etc. Today is also the first day of students' moving-in weekend so the campus is swamped with very young-looking people and their parents.  The campus is getting very lively. Once we'd had enough for the day we went back to the lodge for our final night. Tomorrow we're in the new house come what may. We've met a few of Q's neighbours and they seem very friendly, so all-in-all a good start.  Q made a chicken curry which we ate while watching a film, toni...

The run up to Christmas seems a long one this year - I guess it's because it falls at a weekend.  Today son #1's gf is joining us and it's also the day of our Christmas food deliveries (organic veg!! cheese!! turkey!!!) with the added excitement of not knowing what will be missing, at least not until later. Today is the 5th anniversary of my mum's death, and I take some time to reflect on this. Good things I gained. Things I've lost. The shopping is not due until late (9-10 pm) and before then I'll be taking son's 1 and 2 to the dentist, chatting with a friend as well as having a video call with a school friend I've not seen since before the panny-d (pandemic), as well as other shit I've probably forgotten I have to do. Just back from the dentist having dropped off son #2, and found the veg has been delivered, before heading back to the dentist with son #1 (who wasn't ready to go first time around!!!!!!!) which at least gave me the opportunity to...
