Nine Feet Underground

Broken night's sleep and woke up with a headache. I think there are several big things on my mind. I started the day with a round of exercise, before knuckling down to work. First thing, E was both very gurgle-y and hot, so we kept an eye on her in the day. It was nothing too alarming, but she does like to keep me on alert!  As yesterday, I walked at lunchtime, this time for over 20 minutes, mainly because I won't get a second chance owing to this evening's 'UFA 2023'. Although E has remained hot and red-cheeked throughout the day, she seems to be stable, so the alert level remains high but there are no clear signs of deterioration. Work's now over and I need to get organised for 'Ulysses For All' at six.  Tonight's session on 'Proteus' is over. Two hours flew by, despite some very heavy discussions on Aristotle and Joyce. Originally I had intended to go to this morning's live/in-person yoga class, however yesterday whilst beside the seaside, beside the sea, I rather foolishly twisted my right ankle because my mind was elsewhere and not focused on the unexpected level change I encountered.  After a brief period of hobbling like a goblin (is that a thing?) my ankle seemed to recover and leaving a slight ache, mostly. Overnight, however, it stiffened (my ankle, stick with it!!) probably due to lack of movement and it seemed sensible not to attempt to push my luck in my attempts to look like a Flamingo (very pink!) or enter into dancer's pose (which is already difficult enough, being akin to throwing yourself head first off a cliff!) Instead I have decided to get a number of things done and, maybe, if time permits, chill with the weekend's papers, which I've not found time to read, yet. One of the things I had to do was complete the backlog of posts for the weekend that life had prevented me...

I still haven't finished listening to all the albums that are candidates for my "Best Albums of 2019" review, though I do already know what will be the best re-issue of 2019, that is, unless I decide to make box sets a category of their own. In the meantime, here's a track from an album from 2019 that won't make the top 10:  from Jenny Hval's 'The Practice of Love', here is the hauntingly beautiful, 'High Alice' - shame the rest of the album isn't as good. (I should add it's not a bad album, just that, with the exception of maybe one other track, it doesn't quite work, much as I enjoyed it)
