Nine Feet Underground

For the second day in a row, the early morning carer has said it's almost Friday.  Yesterday, I disputed that and she retorted, "Don't burst my bubble!", today I have accepted that it is getting close. Busy working day ahead so it'll be all quiet on the southern front (relative to where?) It's 5 o'clock, it's Crackerjack!  No, it isn't, but it is almost 6 and time to stop work and log in to the Idler Drinks.  Tonight's guest is Kamin Mohamaddi talking about the treatment of women in Iran in the past and especially today. Should be really interesting. A fascinating and disturbing conversation, which turns out to be part of a wider dialogue that Kamin has been having on the subject, which can be accessed here . Son #1 was also present at the talk and asked a very interesting question about Ali Shariati , who I'd never heard of until now. I stayed for the chat afterwards, as did Kamin, unusually for a guest, and there was much talk about Iran...

Last day of the working week, for me at least.  As always with the last day of work before a break, I have a lot to do. Before I started work I headed to the local corner shop to grab some milk for son #1, as he ran out last night.  Accidentally, I found some chocolate in my basket, and so I decided it was easier to buy it and return home (no time to spare) to get on with work. Late morning I took an early lunch break so I could go and meet Q for a coffee in one of the on-campus coffee shops. The working day ended with a call with my project manager, and then the break began.  After a little discussion, we decided upon a local restaurant for a meal and, once we'd all reassembled, we headed out in the cold night air.
