Tales From The Crypt - Samhain (Tuesday 1st November 2022)

Work. I'm sure Tuesdays come around more frequently than Mondays? I'm planning to start early as I have a lot to do, and every day immersed in work gets me closer to the weekend, so let's plunge in at the deep end. Well, that wasn't such a good plan after all. My access is revoked. Again. For the sake of everything I hold sacred!!! (Slight exaggeration) You may be wondering why this post is headed Samhain when yesterday was Halloween. Well, it's quite simple, they are not exactly the same thing. Samhain does begin on All Hallows' Eve, but extends until the evening of the 1st November, hence the title.  Some even celebrate Samhain over three days, but I'm not getting into that here. So, mlaaahhh! Work has dominated, with all the usual comings and goings of this house, excepting that today a nurse came to give E the flu jab.  I'm keeping an eye on her to make sure there are no unusual immune responses. I've been assured it will be fine, despite what...

Tales From The Crypt - Sunday 10th October 2021

I'm out for most of today, heading to London  to meet a friend. The journey is going to be strange, first time on a train or the tube since 2019, I think.  (BTW, the lavender and chamomile spray seemed to help me get off to sleep, maybe. The jury is out!)  Well that was a wonderful day out; the best day in I don't know how long. Not much else I can say. Back home and son #2 is cooking Tuna ahead of watching the second episode of 'Man In The High Castle'. Goldfrapp / 'Road To Somewhere' / 'Seventh Tree (live version)'   [[]]

Lockdown Diary - Saturday 13th February 2021

Usual start to Saturday, except incredibly cold.  Thermometer reads -5C, and that's without the wind-chill.  Son #3 and I's shopping trip will be exceptionally cold. Cold! That was an understatement! The worst thing was putting alcoholic hand gel on my hands in the cold air - as it evaporated it was making my hands red.   Home now so time to put the shopping away, then eat breakfast - coffee and a sausage sandwich!  I needed that.  I'm ready to take on the chores now, starting with washing up the rest of last night's stuff before really getting into the excitement of washing. I cannot wait. Hold me back. I've been informed by son #3 that film night might be in the balance tonight, in theory it's his turn to choose, however he may have a better offer - we shall have to wait and see. Washing's on, time to catch up on the papers for a bit.   Although it's almost half-past one, only son #3 and I are up, but we decide to make lunch anyway other wise we...

Lockdown Diary - Tuesday 11th August 2020

Tuesday means back to work, and I have two very intense days in which to finish a piece of work for a client and then, in large part due to the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, I will have finished at the client that I've worked at for the past 7 years. Before that, though, I've decided to go for a brief, brisk, walk before I get showered and before the first carer of the day arrives. Done! Managed to walk for about 15 minutes at a fair pace, and got back in just enough time to get showered.  I was almost dry when the first carer arrived and I went down and let her in. I would have walked further, but I struggled to get up early enough, owing to another lousy nights sleep. The lousy night's sleep at least being tempered with more pleasant dreams, though sadly interrupted by the alarm. Whilst the carer was here I chatted with her and set up my work laptop and associated paraphernalia, before doing press-ups and weight lifts, to set me up for breakfast - the usual...
