Love, Poetry and Revolution - Thursday 2nd February 2023
For the second day in a row, the early morning carer has said it's almost Friday. Yesterday, I disputed that and she retorted, "Don't burst my bubble!", today I have accepted that it is getting close.
Busy working day ahead so it'll be all quiet on the southern front (relative to where?)
It's 5 o'clock, it's Crackerjack! No, it isn't, but it is almost 6 and time to stop work and log in to the Idler Drinks. Tonight's guest is Kamin Mohamaddi talking about the treatment of women in Iran in the past and especially today. Should be really interesting.
A fascinating and disturbing conversation, which turns out to be part of a wider dialogue that Kamin has been having on the subject, which can be accessed here. Son #1 was also present at the talk and asked a very interesting question about Ali Shariati, who I'd never heard of until now.
I stayed for the chat afterwards, as did Kamin, unusually for a guest, and there was much talk about Iran and Iranian/Persian history.
All three of us ate dinner together, and watched the second episode of 'Am I Being Unreasonable?', a series son #1 and I started weeks ago. Very funny, in a laugh out loud way.
To sleep perchance to dream, but first to talk (to Q) and then to start (re-)reading 'Ulysses'. I do love that book.
