Love, Poetry and Revolution - Monday 11th September 2023

Like fruit, time flies.

I had more to say about Barcelona, but that's been superseded by events in the meantime.  All I can say is security tags!

On the Saturday immediately following our return from Barca, I was Q's plus one when we attended the inauguration of the Strawberry Field bandstand in Liverpool.  It was a very special occasion and I was glad I attended. The bandstand is in the shape of the bass drum on the cover of The Beatles album 'Sergeant Pepper...' and features relevant images and a great mural as a backdrop. A great afternoon in the sun.  Not only that, but I was introduced to Ken Dodd's widow and other's besides. No diddy men were present (guess they were in Knotty Ash?) but there is an exhibition opening in the Liverpool museum honouring Ken Dodd.

Currently the balls I am juggling are numerous and staying upin the air, yet to fall under gravity's influence. In fact there is so much in play that I'm having to write it all down, lest I should forget or lose sight of the balls.

Last week there was much drama at Q's house. The shower exploded and set the bathroom on fire, completely destroying it. Luckily no one was hurt, though the aftershocks from the incident will be around for longer.  The fire brigade were called and safely put the fire out, but the house is currently unliveable. The house is owned by the university and they reckon they'll have it sorted in a week.  I'm reckoning this is optimistic and two weeks or best part of, will be required. We will see.

Consequently, Q is living in a university flat on campus.  I spent the weekend with Q in the flat as we we're originally planning to go the Southport Airshow on Saturday (9th September) but it was very clear that Q needed a chilled weekend and some recovery time, so that's what we did. Q did suffer from smoke inhalation and spent the night of the fire in A&E with her daughter. Over the weekend we visited the house several times to collect things, but it became obvious that there are still particles in the air / on the furniture (even though Q shut all the doors during the fire) as both of us started coughing and sneezing after a visit on Sunday.  We had some chilled meals out but one of the highlights of the weekend was a late afternoon meal with E's brother and his wife.  Much to catch up on and bridges to mend.  The past cannot be changed, the future can always be better.

I am back home after a shorter than normal visit to the 'pool. I'd have liked to have stayed longer but the campus guest wi-fi is not good enough to support my work needs.  Ed you roam? If only, if only.
