Tales From The Crypt - Tuesday 4th to Monday 10th January 2022

First day of work in 2022! It's going to be a busy day catching up with emails and trying to get back into the swing of things! Work? Remind me? Worse than that, can I remember my passwords!!!

Turns out I can remember and am spending the day working as a result!

Early morning a couple of community matrons arrive to check E over.  Despite yesterday's misgivings all her readings are good and her chest sounds fine with no evidence of any additional damage/crackling. Breathe a long sigh of relief.

Tonight, after work, I'm heading off to the south coast to hang out with a friend ahead of a birthday celebration tomorrow at a secret location tomorrow.

(From now on this post is a compressed / summarised version of events, written after the fact!)

After cards and presents we headed off to Lyme Regis late Wednesday morning for a birthday celebration and overnight stay in The Pilot Boat hotel, near the seafront.

On Wednesday the weather in Lyme Regis was wonderfully bright, if a little cold and the sunset over the sea was beautiful. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant after an afternoon of exploring.

Thursday's weather in Lyme Regis was very different, cloudy, rainy and cold. Nevertheless we explored aspects of the Jurassic coast including Mary Anning's grave and associated church as well as buying some fossils and, owing to making the mistake of going into a bookshop, several books as well.

The remainder of the week until Sunday evening was spent on the south coast, including Friday at work.  Much to consider and explore.

Home on Sunday evening, in preparation for son #1's return to Birmingham university on Monday.  On arrival I'm greeted with a whole bunch of chores that need to be done including clearing up the kitchen and getting washing done.

Monday got off to a good start as son #1 seems to be completely packed for departure back to Brum.  I went out and got him shopping so he has food on his return and also refuelled the car for the return journey.

We left around half-one, which was quite a bit later than I'd hoped, but managed to get to his flat around 3:30 p.m., slap bang in the middle of school run rush hour.

After unloading the car and getting him back in I headed back for home with ETA of around 6 p.m., with a slow departure from Birmingham owing to it now being the evening rush hour and it's also dark and raining. Fun. Great. Not.

Home at last!  Supposed to be going to book club tonight but I'm late home, have loads to do ahead of work tomorrow, haven't read the book, and am knackered.  Time to make dinner, watch TV with son #2 and head for bed.
