Tales From The Crypt - Monday 12th September 2022
Monday, Monday.
All being well I should manage to arrange a meeting with good friends who are visiting the UK from Berlin this weekend, and today is the last opportunity for us to meet up. Watch this space!
The morning evaporated fast and included a quick trip to the shops as well as a firm arrangement to meet my Berlin friends in town at 2:30.
Lunch is made and eaten. Just as I'm getting ready to catch the bus, the window cleaner arrives. Typical! The boys will have to sort that out as I am off out (and so are they, apparently).
Heading to town by bus, having arranged a meeting place. More later.
Met M and his wife, before M and I headed off for a drink and chat in a suitable hostelry with a balcony overlooking the town. It was great catching up in person after a few years of calls. M always bring a fresh perspective on things, though unusually we barely touched on politics or the state of the world. Probably too depressing to talk about in detail. In cod we Truss.
The journey home reminded me of the perils of bus travel. For a variety of reasons several buses didn't run, so the wait was way longer than the normal 15 minutes. But Lo! Who should be on the self-same bus but son #1 and his gf. Which was nice. ('Fast Show' reference, in case that seems out of place)
Apart from speaking to Q, there was also a flurry of activity around slow cooker / one-pot meals, caused primarily by the subject that follows.
In terms of dinner, if nothing else, this evening has been a bit chaotic. Eventually, we sat down to dinner around 9:30, quite a lot later than I really like. The dinner, homemade spaghetti carbonara, was nice, but way too late. 'Something Better Change'. Several of us watched a documentary about Central America over and after dinner.
I had to leave before it ended, as I have to get up for you-know-what tomorrow morning.
Le fin.
