Tales From The Crypt - Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th February 2022

Saturday begins on the south coast, but before long (but longer than it should have been!!) I'm driving us north towards Newbury in West Berkshire.

[Most of what follows has been written after the event!]

After leaving slightly later than intended, I was quite pleased with our journey time, only to discover I had the meet time wrong by 30 minutes, so that in the end we arrived more than half an hour late. The friends we met took the piss out of me, as they should and so rather than relying on my brain, next time I'm going to put the time in my calendar.

Despite our late start, we managed a decent walk around Snelsmore Common taking in Donnington Castle en-route, and even made it to the Bunk-up Inn in time for a lunch booking.  Amazingly the weather was really good until after we all headed for home, when things took a turn for the worse.

We watched BlacKkKlansmen in the evening after eating and then retired to get ready for another day down south.

Sunday begins with a lie-in - the wind is howling outside and the rain is lashing down -before a heading off to the bread shop to get a loaf for breakfast. Breakfast turns out to be an Australian-style feast of avocado on toast with poached eggs and bacon, with coffee, and in my case at least, an almond croissant.

Sunday passed in the blink of an eye, but did include moral support during painting and quite a while wrestling with Google Calendar to create a shared view of activities. All to soon it was time to head north again...

...home now, unpacked and clearing up while son #2 makes spicy chicken fajitas. I eat alone watching the second episode of The Apprentice. Where do they find these people?

To bed, to sleep in the usual way. A tough job ahead of me tomorrow...
