Tales From The Crypt - Friday 2nd December 2022

After yesterday's at times frenetic activity, today is a sea of calm.

Q is working, I have the day off and am planning to take it easy.

After getting some boring online admin down, I sat down with a coffee and watched 'In The Court Of The Crimson King: King Crimson at 50'.  It is quite a documentary. Robert Fripp comes across as a deep thinker, a perfectionist and perhaps also a dictator. The best parts involve Bill Rieflin. As the documentary unfolds, it transpires that he is very ill with cancer, in pain all the time and, ultimately, terminal.  He dies during the making of the documentary.  This is very moving and his attitude to life is inspiring, I think the sections in which he reveals his situation are worth the price of admission alone.  It is an excellent film that I'd highly recommend. A reviewer on IMDb said "Even if you have never heard of King Crimson, you will be entertained by this well-constructed documentary, filmed unflinchingly up close, and the quality and hilarity of the interviews, conducted in such places as on a stage, in a dismal van and at a candlelit dinner table. Deep earnestness and light-hearted taking the piss are around every corner. Just like in life, really."

We have a plan for the evening: we're driving into Liverpool to see the lights after dinner in San Carlos, an Italian restaurant, in case that might be obvious!

I drove us all into the 'Pool and we found a decent parking place before heading off towards the restaurant.  San Carlos is a large, inviting restaurant, though the first I've been to that has bouncers on the door.

Most people in the city are glammed up to the nines and also, seemingly, unaware of the cold.  The food was excellent, though as I was driving, I abstained from alcohol.

After food, we headed off towards the Christmas tree in the centre, taking photos as we wandered about.  We returned home for further chats, before sleep.
