Tales From The Crypt - Sunday 7th August 2022

An exciting day ahead!

I'm up early.  Slept like a baby, i.e. just as much time awake, but without the crying or other unpleasant incidents.

Today all the boys are due to be up and ready early so we can leave her at around 10:30 a.m.

I am very impressed as they all get on with it and are ready in good time.  They are clearly excited about what lies ahead.

Today we are driving to the south coast to have lunch with Q and her daughter, who the boys have yet to meet.  I think this is a big deal for all of us but especially for Q's daughter.  To be descended upon by three twenty-something young men who are loud, very talkative and very used to each other's company (witness the 'banter'!!) must be pretty daunting. There is so much change surrounding us all but I suspect the amount of change Q's daughter is experiencing is off the scale. I hope today (and sons 1 to 3's liveliness) is not too overwhelming for her.

Let's get on with it. Everyone is ready and we'll be setting off very shortly. Once more into the breach (beach?)!

Back now after an unexpected (for 3 of us, at least) detour to pick up son #1's gf.  It's been a great day and I have really enjoyed it.  Superb lunch rounded off by an excellent chocolate marble cake (my teeth! my teeth! (Bad joke)!) made by Q's daughter.  After lunch, we went for a walk to the beach, stopping off for ice cream, naturally. Glorious weather, wonderful company.

Speaking to my sons afterwards revealed almost identical feedback. They enjoyed meeting Q's daughter, loved the food, loved meeting their cat (especially son #3), loved the area and seafront (son #2 would like to revisit and explore further) and overall had a very enjoyable day. They had such a good time they didn't want to leave.

I hope it was a good day for Q's daughter too.
