Tales From The Crypt - Thursday 4th August 2022

Today looks like it will be one of those mundane, nothing-out-of-the-ordinary days.

I guess our 'nothing-out-of-the-ordinary' might qualify as exceptional in some lives, but we have become used to chaos and uncertainty.

I'm still feeling very tired and seem to wake up feeling tired and go through the whole day feeling tired. It's been suggested that a return to something approximating my old pre-end-of-life for E (?) routine would help. Guess I will soon see as I am due to return to work next week provided nothing untoward happens.

The most notable thing today is a plan for Sunday that is gradually turning from a possibility into something highly likely.

Change is the order of life.

I have an enormous backlog of music to listen to and things are aligned in such a way that I feel able to listen to a few new albums tonight before making dinner.

My usual bedtime routine leads to sleep of some sort, hopefully.

It's been a while since my last post, longer than I anticipated when I decided I didn't need to post daily. Since then, which was a little over a week ago, a lot has happened though quite a lot of it can't appear here. Work has been especially busy as my work on the project is coming to an end.  Unusually, design uncertainties are increasing rather than decreasing as things wind down, which means I am doubly busy with new stuff as well as trying to ensure I wrap up and tidy all my documentation. There's been lots of monitoring activity keeping me busy while I get to grips with the joys of SDR.  It's opened up a world of possibilities that inevitably come with new challenges including the need for better antenna or better-sited (higher, outdoor) antenna and RF filters on top of the RF amplifiers I've also required. A Look Back on 2014

2014 has been a great year for music. The further evolution of new bands taking inspiration from one or other of the previous psychedelic eras has resulted in more thrilling music, though there is a fine line that divides inspiration and slavish copying. I much prefer music made by those who understand the heart of the music and create something new and exhilarating. Alongside the burgeoning psychedelic scene the parallel – yet overlapping – progressive scene continues to develop further, mixing up the musical origins of prog with ideas, energy and single-mindedness of punk, folk and metal. Love, Poetry and Revolution - Sunday 21st May 2023

I'm feeling even better today, in fact the carers even remarked upon it, so it must be true. I had a bit of a lie-in, but also had to be reasonably prompt getting up as my book case is due to be delivered between nine and one. After breakfast I moved the piles of books onto the bed in preparation for the arrival of the book case which will (hopefully) house them all and maybe a few more besides. This is the first step in a much bigger operation which will see a large number books leave this house, one way or another. The book case arrived around midday and son #3 helped me carry it upstairs.  Let the assembly begin. The book case is now assembled and the shelves are all in place, but before I can load it, I need to go shopping for salad to have as part of lunch. Tales From The Crypt - Sunday 30th October 2022

An extra hour's sleep, in theory and almost in practice.  I was woken today by the sound of E coughing.  On the positive side I still heard her even though I was blocking out sound, and not only that she was fine, just a normal round of coughing. I went back to bed, but couldn't get back to sleep so got up, and showered. Going to meet a friend for a coffee at around 11, but before then I have washing to put on and a few of the usual daily chores to do. Back from a great coffee and catch-up with a good friend. She's looking well and doing OK, which is good to see.  Lots to talk about as we've not seen each other for a couple of months, maybe more. Lockdown Diary - Tuesday 31st March 2020

First working day of the week for me, at least.   I've been fairly busy, so this won't be much of a diary entry. Keeping up with the 'Wake, got in touch with a couple for friends online and arranged a call with one tomorrow.  Written a brief letter to another, 'cos that's what it's all about at the moment - communications. Work continues to present challenges and things could change quite dramatically over the next couple of weeks, but for now I carry on as normal. Yet again, work has filled my day and I haven't managed to take a break outside, but tomorrow and for the rest of the week I intend to put in a thirty minute slot to go out, walk and get some fresh air.  I have at least managed to keep up my daily 20-minute meditation, which is something, though not a substitute for exercise and fresh air. The day has been rounded off with a takeaway from our local Italian restaurant - makes a change from cooking, and no social interaction closer than 2...
