Love, Poetry and Revolution - Wednesday 22nd March 2023

More of the same in prospect.

The only unusual interruption came in the form of the man who normally cuts our hedges.  There's a lot to be done, as usual, including the trees out front (which are not yet in bloom so can be trimmed and shaped) as well as the sad demise of our cherry tree which is rotting at the base and roots.  Additionally he cleaned out our gutters and identified that some of the concrete on the roof gully is coming away.  I've arranged for a roof man to come and have a look next week. ££££ Aaagghh!

Work has been very full-on today, so much so that I forgot to put my dry eye drops in.  Not a dry eye in the house.

Work over, tonight is 'UFA' again with lecturer Laura Pelaschiar talking about 'Scylla and Charybdis'.  After questions, we entered the breakout rooms and I was randomly assigned to a room with three interesting people, all in the Republic.  A great discussion ensued and I ended being elected as spokesperson for the group when we headed back to the main session. We'd been discussing lines 828 to 886 in which Stephen expounds some strange ideas about fatherhood, motherhood interwoven with his theories and about 'Hamlet' and its relation to Shakespeare's life. This course is so good and the discussions wonderfully mind opening. They also highlight one's own ignorance and lack of knowledge. There is always so much more to learn. I love it. My brain runneth over.

We ate dinner together watching an episode of 'Inside No.9'. Great show. (!!!!)

There is almost only one place I should be right now. Second bed (Will's will).

Arrivaderci Roma!
