Tales From The Crypt - Friday 30th September 2022

Breakfast at the university again, after which we returned to the new house to find a couple of porters about to enter the house to take away a bed, a washing machine and a microwave oven.

As we set about more unpacking the heavens opened and a day of biblical rain started.  At some point I headed for a nearby shop on foot to buy lunch and a Guardian, it being Friday.

Spent the day humping. Boxes. Now I have a bad back. That'll teach me.

After all the hard we returned home to eat pizza and watch one of my favourite films, ‘Lost In Translation’, which Q’s never seen.  There’s so much I like about the film, apart from it being very romantic, it has great music (it’s one of a limited number of films I have the soundtrack to). After watching it, Q and I talked about several of the themes, before heading for bed.

A post before July ends! Amazing! July has been incredibly busy socially and has sown seeds for the remainder of my life, hopefully.  I have long harboured an ambition to become a writer.  Writing always comes second to living life, so I don't think I have what it takes. It's not an all-consuming passion.  It's never too late (?) Q and I spent ten days in Italy early in the month.  The original plan was a week's holiday split between Venice and Florence, returning to Bologna (where we started) for an NGO conference that Q had to attend for a week.  Sadly, Q's actual job needed her back at work earlier, so we left Bologna early on Wednesday morning of the second week. Tales From The Crypt - Monday 28th June 2021

I've only gone and bloody well done it! Welcome to the first of my 'Tales From The Crypt': I'm bored as fuck with the old title and anything to do with Covid:  obviously I'm still going to adhere the guidelines and protect the vulnerable person I care for and about, I'm not a complete and utter bastard. We all have a part to play in keeping one another safe.  Sermon over. Started the day with the return of the early morning carer who's been on leave for two weeks - updated her with the latest news, which she was keen to hear. Knocked up and ate breakfast early, in order to finish eating 2 hours ahead of yoga at 10:00, then it was a bit of organising to get the compilation CD completed and ready to post. Off to the post office just before 9 a.m. to complete the process and then return ready to head for yoga at 9:30 a.m. Back from yoga after a chat with one of the other class members, followed by a longer chat with the teacher: I gave her a bit of a life updat...

Tales From The Crypt - Friday 28th October 2022

A busy Friday ahead, so probably not a great deal to say. We will see. Still getting used to the fact that I'm here not there, but I just have to get on with it. The uncertainty and unpredictability of life is tough on all of us, and I'm grateful for all the support I get.  I know it's especially tough for Q as she never knows how long I'll be around for and plans are vague. I'm back again. My head is still not back to the state which I call normality.  I'm still getting headaches daily.  I'm not sure if it's the bang on my head or SSRI withdrawal or a toxic combination of both.  Next week, I may get a chance to be investigated by my GP, if nothing has changed. In the meantime, I am competing for the record of becoming the largest consumer of paracetamol and ibuprofen. It's not ideal, but there have to be positives. Life goes on, as it must and I've a few big topics on my mind, aside from the above.  Planning for the future and deciding what that will look like is one of these topics. Thankfully, this one takes two to plan and Q and I have had several conversations as we discern a plan emerging from the fog of possibilities. After a long period of stasis, I have just completed the first step in changing our house and garden to meet the needs of us all.  The first step is converting our garden into a usable space for socialising and hosting gatherings (maybe with food if guests are lucky!) I'm on the verge of starting a project to convert our garage into a combined music room, library, and guest bedroom. It's long been a dream of mine to have a library and a music room, and this dream is now almost a reality.   You might ask why I didn't start this sooner? The overarching reason is that being E's carer, with all that entailed, it was almost impossible (for a long time) to muster the energy or positivity needed to make such big changes. Not only that, some of these changes would have been impossible whilst E was in her hospital bed.
